Heliotrope Veil Formula

Late afternoon light falls through a thin silk curtain onto an old dressing table. The first breath is bright and a little bitter, like tea with a slice of bergamot peel, and it lifts for a few minutes before the room settles into something softer: dried orris root, white heliotrope with its almond-like sweetness, and a clear thread of jasmine. Then the veil comes down. Soft iris and violet powder spread over everything, warmed from below by hay, tonka and a haze of vanilla, while a clean musk, a little sandalwood and a dry amber hold it close to the skin. A faint touch of ripe peach keeps the powder tender rather than dusty.
