Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you ("Customer") and Global Scent Solutions LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as GrassAccord ("GrassAccord", "we", "us"). They govern your use of grassaccord.com and your purchase of our Formulas. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or purchase.

1. What we sell

"Formulas" are digital fragrance formulations (recipes) created by our perfumers, delivered as a PDF file. We do not sell perfumes, fragrance oils, raw materials or samples. No physical item is shipped.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have legal capacity under the laws of your country, to purchase. Minors may only purchase with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Ordering, payment and delivery

  1. Prices are shown and charged in US dollars (USD). Prices are shown before tax; any sales tax, VAT or GST due in your country is calculated and added at checkout.
  2. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your card details.
  3. After your payment is confirmed, we email a secure download link for each Formula to the address you provided, usually within minutes. Each link works for 7 days and up to 3 downloads, or longer depending on your membership tier. Please make sure your email address is correct.
  4. Formulas in our With Our Compliments collection are priced at $35. Signed-in members can instead receive them at $0, one copy of each Formula per member, in exchange for free formula coupons: each Formula needs the number of coupons shown on its page (1 to 5). You receive one coupon each week (Monday to Sunday, UTC) the first time you sign in or visit while signed in (valid 1 month), and two coupons for each Formula you pay at least $0.10 for (valid 3 months). New members also receive one welcome coupon when the account is created, and three coupons the first time they agree to receive news and offers by email (each valid 1 month, given once per account and once per internet connection; not taken back if consent is later withdrawn). Only one weekly coupon is given per account and per internet connection. Unused coupons from an order that is canceled or refunded in full are withdrawn. Coupons have no cash value and cannot be transferred. Formulas received with coupons earn no stamp and are not refundable; a Formula bought at its price is treated like any other Formula. The licence in Section 4 applies to them as to any other Formula.

4. Licence to use the Formulas

  1. You may use a purchased Formula for personal study and to produce your own fragrances (eau de toilette, eau de parfum, parfum), including fragrances you sell.
  2. The Formula itself is our trade secret and remains our property. You may not share, resell, publish, upload, make available for download or otherwise distribute the Formula or its contents, in whole or in part, by any means, including social media, websites, forums and messaging apps.
  3. Violation of this section ends your licence immediately and may result in legal action.

5. Skill and safety

Formulas assume basic perfumery knowledge. Proportions are expressed as parts per 100 (mass percentage). You are solely responsible for safe handling of raw materials, for compliance with IFRA standards and with the cosmetic and product-safety laws of your country, and for any product you make or sell.

6. Originality

Our Formulas are original GrassAccord compositions. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by or copies of any fragrance brand. Product images are illustrative only.

7. Refunds

Because a Formula cannot be returned once it has been seen, a purchase can be refunded until the file is downloaded for the first time (checked against our download records). After that it is non-refundable, except as described in our Refund Policy.

8. No warranty

Formulas are provided as is. Results depend on your raw materials, equipment and technique, and we do not guarantee a particular scent, longevity or commercial result.

9. Payment disputes

If there is a problem with an order, please contact us first at perfumer@grassaccord.com. We will resend the file or refund you where our Refund Policy applies.

10. Export and sanctions

You may not purchase from a country or as a person subject to United States sanctions or export restrictions.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version shown on this page at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States.

14. The 7th Accord (stamp card and coupons)

  1. Each Formula you pay for adds one stamp to your The 7th Accord card, kept under your order email address. Every card begins with one gift stamp (your first card when you sign up or first purchase, and every new card after that), so a card never has fewer than one stamp. A Formula with a paid amount of $0 earns no stamp, and neither does an order paid entirely with mileage.
  2. When all seven cells of a card are filled, we email you a coupon code for one Formula of your choice (The 7th Accord). Every seventh completed card also earns one bonus coupon (The Grand Accord).
  3. Stamps and coupons do not expire. Each coupon can be used once, only by the account that earned it while signed in, and has no cash value.
  4. A Formula obtained with a coupon is a $0 order. It earns no stamp and is not refundable.
  5. If an order is canceled or refunded, its stamps are removed from your current card (a card always keeps at least one stamp). Stamps on a card that was already completed stay, and coupons already earned are kept, except as described in paragraph 8. We may withdraw stamps or coupons obtained through fraud or abuse.
  6. If you agree to receive news and offers by email (optional), we add one extra stamp to your card the first time you agree. It is given once per account and is not taken back if you later withdraw your consent.
  7. When one order includes 3 or more Formulas with a paid amount above $0, it earns extra stamps: 2 for every 5 such Formulas, rounded down (3–4 Formulas: 1, 5–7: 2, 8–9: 3, 10–12: 4, and so on). Formulas made $0 by a code are not counted. If the order is canceled, these stamps are removed with the others (paragraph 5).
  8. If an order is canceled or refunded and the card it filled produced a coupon, that coupon is withdrawn if it has not been used, and the stamps you had collected on that card before the order are put back on your current card. If the coupon has already been used, we may deduct the price of one Formula from the refund.

15. Vouchers

  1. We may send you a voucher worth $5, $10 or $20, for example when you create an account ($5, valid for 14 days). Each voucher shows its expiry date; after that date it can no longer be used.
  2. A voucher takes its amount off one order. Up to 3 vouchers can be used together on one order, each once, only by the account that received it while signed in. Vouchers can be combined with a The 7th Accord or The Grand Accord code.
  3. The vouchers on an order may not add up to more than the amount still to pay; a voucher that would not be fully used cannot be added. Vouchers have no cash value and are not refunded.
  4. If an order paid partly with a voucher is canceled, the voucher is returned if it has not expired.

16. Mileage

  1. Every order earns mileage on the amount you paid by card, excluding amounts covered by codes, vouchers or mileage: 1%, or the rate of your membership tier when you placed the order (Section 18). Mileage has no expiry.
  2. At checkout you may use your whole mileage balance, up to the order total. Mileage has no cash value and cannot be withdrawn or transferred.
  3. If an order is canceled, the mileage it earned is removed and the mileage it used is returned.
  4. We may correct mileage credited in error or obtained through fraud or abuse.

17. Referral

  1. A member who joins with another member's 9-digit member number (typed at sign-up, from that member's invitation link, or added within 7 days of joining and before their first purchase) is a referred member. A referrer can be set once and cannot be changed.
  2. For each of the referred member's first 3 Formulas with a paid amount above $0, the referred member receives one extra stamp and the referrer receives one stamp, at the same time. The referrer's own purchases give the referred member nothing.
  3. You cannot refer yourself, including with another spelling of the same mailbox. There is no limit on how many members one member can refer.
  4. Stamps from a canceled order are removed from both cards. We may refuse or withdraw referrals and stamps obtained through fraud or abuse, such as accounts created to refer oneself.
  5. For every 3 referred members who have bought (3, 6, 9 and so on), the referrer receives a $10 voucher (Section 15). If cancellations bring the number back below that step, the voucher is withdrawn unless it has already been used.
  6. If you share your invitation link or member number publicly (for example on social media, a blog or in a video), say clearly that you receive stamps or vouchers when people join with it. Do not send it as unsolicited messages (spam), and do not use it in paid advertising, including search ads for the name GrassAccord. Rewards obtained in breach of this paragraph may be refused or withdrawn.

18. Vetiver membership tiers

  1. Members with an account move up tiers by lifetime stamps (all stamps received, excluding stamps removed by cancellation): Member, Silver Elite (7), Gold Elite (21), Platinum Elite (49), Root Elite (98) and Essence Elite (196). A tier, once reached, does not go down.
  2. Mileage rate: Member and Silver Elite 1%, Gold Elite 1.5%, Platinum Elite 2%, Root Elite 2.5%, Essence Elite 3%.
  3. On reaching a tier we send a gift: Silver Elite a $5 voucher, Gold Elite $10, Platinum Elite $10, Root Elite $20 (Section 15), and Essence Elite one free Formula code (Section 14).
  4. Silver Elite and above receive a yearly birthday voucher ($5, $10, $10, $20, $20 by tier) only if they choose to add their birthday (month and day) on My Vetiver. It can be removed at any time. One birthday voucher per calendar year.
  5. Download links for orders placed as Gold, Platinum or Root Elite work for 30 days and up to 5 downloads; as Essence Elite, without an expiry date and up to 10 downloads. Platinum Elite and above receive a reply to their messages within 24 hours.
  6. We may change future tier benefits by updating these Terms; benefits already received are not affected.

19. My LAB

  1. My LAB is a free tool for members to keep their own formulas, perfumer's notes and calculations.
  2. What you save there is yours. We claim no rights in it, do not read it, and do not use it to make or sell formulas. It is stored encrypted; formulas you keep "on this device only" stay in your browser.
  3. You are responsible for what you save, including any rights of others. Calculations are a convenience: check quantities, IFRA limits and safety yourself.
  4. Device-only formulas can be lost if you clear your browser; use Export to keep a backup. We may set reasonable limits on size and number.

20. Vetiver Drops

  1. Members with an account collect Vetiver Drops for activities in My LAB and on our site: completing a formula in My LAB (1 Drop), a note on a resting formula on day 7, 21 or 42 after mixing (1 Drop each), a published review of a formula you bought, whatever its rating (3 Drops), and first steps in My LAB (first formula, first material, first note — 1 Drop each). Each activity counts once. Drops are not given for purchases.
  2. One Drop is worth US$0.10 off an order. Each Drop evaporates — that is, it expires and can no longer be used — 90 days after it was collected; the oldest Drops are used first.
  3. You can collect up to 30 Drops per calendar month and use up to 30 Drops per order, never more than the amount still to pay. Drops can be combined with codes, vouchers and mileage. Amounts paid with Drops do not earn mileage. Formulas still paid for after Drops earn their stamps.
  4. Drops have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn, transferred or refunded. If an order that used Drops is canceled, those Drops are returned unless they have evaporated.
  5. Reviews for which Drops were given are marked as such. If a review is removed, its unused Drops are taken back. Each Drop has a record of how it was collected; we may withdraw Drops obtained through fraud or abuse, such as formulas created only to collect Drops.
  6. We may change how Drops are collected and used in the future by updating these Terms; Drops already in your account keep their value and evaporation date.

21. Automated access and the dictionaries

  1. The Ingredient Dictionary, the Perfume Dictionary, the Journal and the product descriptions on grassaccord.com are written and compiled by us. You may read them, link to them and quote short passages with a link to the page they come from.
  2. You may not use robots, scrapers, crawlers or any other automated means to copy, download or extract the Ingredient Dictionary or the Perfume Dictionary, or any of our pages or data in bulk, or to build a database or data set from them, and you may not get around the limits and blocks we use to prevent this. Our robots.txt file states which automated access we allow and forms part of this section.
  3. Search engines, AI assistants that open a page to answer a person's question and link to it, and other crawlers may access the site only as our robots.txt allows.
  4. We may limit or block access from addresses that copy our content automatically, and we may take legal action against unauthorised copying.
  5. This section applies to everyone, including customers who have bought from us. If we reasonably conclude that an account, or someone using it, is copying our content automatically, we may block that access and suspend the account; we will tell you by email and give you a chance to explain, unless the copying is serious or continues, in which case we may close the account at once. Formulas you have already bought remain licensed to you under Section 4, but orders already delivered are not refunded for this reason, and the benefits in the account (stamps, coupons, vouchers, mileage and Drops) may be withdrawn.

22. Community posts and shared accords

  1. Members with an account can ask and answer questions, comment, upvote and share accords from My LAB on our site ("posts"). We review posts before they appear, except posts on Perfumers' Q&A by members whose earlier posts we have approved, which may appear at once and can be removed later.
  2. Your posts remain yours. By posting, you allow us to show them on grassaccord.com in the language you wrote them in and to let search engines show them. A shared accord is a public copy of the version you share; amounts are included only if you choose to share them and are shown only to signed-in members.
  3. Do not post the contents of Formulas you bought (Section 4), other people's personal information, abuse, advertising, or skin or health claims without evidence. We may hide such posts without notice; the Drops they earned are taken back.
  4. Approved answers to other members' questions earn 1 Drop (once per question) and approved shared accords earn 3 Drops (once per formula), under Section 20. Answers that earned Drops are marked as such.
  5. You can stop sharing an accord at any time; it is taken off the site at once and the Drops it earned are taken back. We cannot withdraw what others have already seen or copied.
  6. When someone answers your question, we may email you, at most once a day per question. You can turn these emails off on the question page.

23. Perfumer's questions and The Perfumer's Card

  1. A question credit lets you ask our perfumers one question in the Perfumer's question corner of the concierge. Each question uses one credit. Before sending, you choose the language of the answer from the languages of our site; it cannot be changed afterwards. Our perfumer reviews the question personally and answers with a structured written report (PDF), usually within about a week; the report appears in your concierge and we let you know by email.
  2. Question credits can be bought from our Consulting collection ($50 each) or earned with The Perfumer's Card: each Formula with a paid amount above $0 adds one stamp, and every 7 stamps give one question credit. The Perfumer's Card has no gift, bundle, referral or consent stamps, and an order paid entirely with mileage adds no stamp to it.
  3. Each question credit is valid for 3 months from the day you receive it, can be used only by the account that received it while signed in, and has no cash value. Buying a question credit earns no stamp on either card, and free Formula codes (The 7th Accord, The Grand Accord) cannot be used for it.
  4. A bought question credit that has not been used is withdrawn if its order is canceled or refunded. If an order is canceled or refunded, its stamps on The Perfumer's Card are removed, and a question credit the card no longer covers is withdrawn if it has not been used. A credit used for a question is not refundable.
  5. The report is professional guidance on perfumery. It does not replace your own safety checks, IFRA compliance or the laws of your country (Section 5). If we cannot answer a question, for example because it is not about perfumery or would require revealing the contents of a Formula, we return the credit. Reports are for your own use; Section 4 applies to them as it does to Formulas.
