Welcome to GrassAccord
Scent is a universal language. GrassAccord opens the door to perfumery, so that it stays open whatever language you speak.

Welcome to GrassAccord.
The nose needs no interpreter. The brightness of bergamot, the weight of a rose, the trail a wood leaves behind — they reach everyone, in every country, by the same path. The sense that lets us feel, distinguish and remember a scent was never given only to the speakers of one particular language.
And yet, for a long time, the world of perfumery lived within the borders of English and a handful of European languages. Information on raw materials, teaching resources, formulas — almost all of it opened only in those languages. So there were many people whose sense was more than enough, but who never stepped inside, because the door opened only in another language.
This is what we believe. Whatever your language, anyone with a sense for understanding scent has the right to make perfume.
GrassAccord exists for that right. What we sell are formulas; what we open is the door to perfumery.
Why formulas
Perfume is sold finished, sealed in a bottle. People buy a scent and wear it, yet never learn how it was made. For a long time, the secrets of perfumery were kept in the vaults of the great fragrance houses, and only a very few could open that door.
We chose another path. Rather than a finished perfume, we hand you the blueprint from which a scent is built.
A formula is a sentence written in the language of perfumery. It shows, in numbers, which materials to layer, in what amounts and in what balance for them to become a single scent. Just as someone who reads many fine sentences eventually writes their own, someone who blends many fine formulas by hand eventually composes their own scent. That is why, to us, a formula is an example sentence before it is a product. We are not a house that sells scent; we are a house that hands over the language of perfumery.
Some ask why we would give away a formula we worked so hard on. We do not see sharing as a loss. What is held back ends as possession; what is passed on remains as a legacy. We believe a formula reborn in someone's studio, carried on into a new scent, lives far longer than one forgotten in a drawer. And we do not stand still: every day, we keep composing new formulas.
The democratization of perfumery, as we mean it, is not about making things cheaply, quickly or carelessly. It is about letting anyone reach formulas of a professional standard. No great laboratory, no decades of apprenticeship — only your own language and a sense for understanding scent, so that you can begin today.
So this is what we do
- We welcome you in your language. Our shop, member emails, order and download notices, and formula PDFs reach you in the language you choose. We currently support 30 languages, and we keep adding more.
- Numbers are already universal. The heart of a formula is its proportions and numbers. We explain the guidance around those numbers in your own words.
- Every language is open; the price is one. Whatever language you read in, you receive the same formula at the same price. No language is treated differently.
- We do not hide what is still unfinished. If a part has not yet been fully translated, that is ours still to fill. We will complete it, piece by piece.
In this Journal
We would like to share notes on perfumery: on raw materials and accords, and on the small decisions that shape a single scent. We will also write about how our formulas are made, and how you can make the very most of the formulas you receive.
If you have any questions about our formulas, please reach out to our Concierge at any time. We will answer you in your language.
Thank you for visiting.
