Building an accord
No natural hyacinth material is used at all. The flower is assembled from a handful of small materials: a green, slightly sharp ester for the stem, a warm, balsamic alcohol for the sweetness and a softening green acetal, together about a tenth of the batch. Underneath sits a jasmine-like floral mass close to three times as heavy, but on the blotter it is the hyacinth you recognise first, because the small accord is sharper and rises earlier, while the broad, soft mass only carries it.

Why the sharpest hyacinth material is weighed only as a one-in-ten solution, and at a tiny share even then: undiluted it would turn the green into a harsh, metallic edge, so it is kept to a single bright spark.
