Description

A Paris music salon on a clear morning: pale light through a sheer curtain, the black lacquered lid of a grand piano and a silver bowl of roses still wet with dew. It opens clean and bright, with washed lime, orange and lemon peel, a cool breath of eucalyptus and the soft shine of fresh linen. Then the rose opens — honeyed and fresh at once, with a green leaf, a drop of dew and a hint of peach — held in a clear haze of lily of the valley and lilac and touched with a violet shadow. It ends close and light, with a soft green bloom and a thread of velvet wood, like a rose on just-washed skin. A study in keeping a rose fresh rather than heavy.
