Creaminess

Here roughly three quarters of the formula is rose material, led by one soft, rose-water-like material that makes up more than a third on its own. A rose built this way can feel thin and sharp. Underneath, a powdered violet material with an orris-like side forms a soft, creamy ground, and a little velvety wood and a trace of honey sit with it, so the rose reads round and creamy, like a fresh cream soap rather than a cut flower.

Working with dilutions

How seven very strong materials are weighed as solutions in an airy jasmine material at three strengths — a tenth, a hundredth and a thousandth — so that a trace can be dosed exactly.
