Bridge notes

Fresh ginger is what you notice first, yet the ginger extract is one of the smaller lines in this formula, and the dry woods underneath weigh almost six times as much. What keeps the spice from simply flashing off is a pair of dry, spicy bridge materials, one a woody hydrocarbon with a clove-like edge and one a warm spice oil, that smell of both heat and timber. They catch the root's warmth as it fades and carry it into an ambery wood shaded by something cool and earthy, so an hour later the spice is still present, now as part of the timber.

Transparency

Why the largest line is a clear, airy jasmine material rather than a heavier floral: it opens space around the ginger and the citrus peels, so a handful of small fresh notes can each be heard.

Close to the skin

How three different musks, together a little over a seventh of the batch, are layered from smooth to warm to sweet, so the drydown stays close to the skin for hours.
