Creaminess

Almost half of this formula is jasmine, built from three materials: a soft petal body that is the largest single material, a transparent jasmine air, and a lively, fruity jasmine that lifts first. The cream itself, a milky coconut, tonka and two vanillas, is only about one twentieth of the batch, yet set under so much white flower it is what you remember, like jasmine folded into warm cream.

Close to the skin

How a clean white musk and a creamy sandalwood, together about one fifth of the batch, form the soft skin under the flowers and stay for hours after the bright, soapy opening has rinsed away.

Working with dilutions

How five very strong materials, among them a mandarin-peel spark, an orange-blossom note, a soapy wax, bitter almond and a caramel sweetness, are weighed as one-tenth and one-hundredth solutions, so each stays a trace.
