Backbone and seasoning

Almost a third of this formula is green-fruit material, and one of them — a clean, fruity wood with the snap of green apple skin — is by far the largest line. It is mild enough to be used in quantity, so it can carry the formula from the first minute into the heart without shouting. A wide, velvety wood beneath it gives the fruit a floor to stand on, like midday light resting on polished onyx.

The power of traces

Why two very strong green materials are used only in traces — a sharp galbanum-and-pineapple note and an apple-like rose give the large fruit its bite; a little more would take over.

Cleanliness

How a cologne-like lime, a cool pine and the waxy shine of two very bright materials make the whole formula read as freshly laundered — the reason it suits a shampoo or body wash as well as a fine fragrance.
