Building an accord

A classic fougère stands on three pillars: lavender, a dry, tonka-like hay and moss. Here those pillars are kept deliberately slim — the lavender materials together take only a modest share, the hay and moss together a small one — yet they are enough for the shape to read as fougère from the first minutes to the drydown. The soft, sweet esters of the lavender family do most of that work, while the hay and moss lie underneath like a quiet floor, the way an open paper window frames a whole garden.

Lifting the opening

How the opening is built from many citrus voices — a clean, lime-like material that is the largest of them, bergamot, a long-lasting grapefruit rind and small natural peels — so the brightness lasts longer than one citrus oil could.

Transparency

How the largest line in the formula is a transparent, jasmine-like material that adds air rather than flowers, keeping the herbs and the woods clear and spacious.
