Lifting the opening

Citrus is close to a third of this formula, and a bittersweet green rind leads it, about a sixth of the whole on its own. A sweeter, juicier peel of about a sixteenth rounds its bitter edge, and a sparkling zest of about a twenty-fifth sets a point of light on top. Study how one bittersweet citrus can lead an opening when the other peels are placed around it in smaller, clearly different amounts — round on one side, bright on the other.

Transparency

How a white floral heart can feel like light rather than petals: the largest floral material, about a seventh of the formula, is an airy, transparent jasmine, and the dewy lily-of-the-valley notes beside it are kept soft and sheer, so the flowers widen the citrus instead of covering it.

Reading regulations

Why this formula stops at fifteen parts in a hundred for an alcoholic fragrance: its main white-flower material is capped by European cosmetics rules, and at that dose it sits just under the limit. A very intense fruity-rose material is used only as a one-in-ten solution, in a tiny share, for the same reason.
