Almost half of this formula is one transparent, jasmine-like material that carries almost no weight of its own. It opens a clear room, so the smaller citrus and white-flower materials inside it are each heard on their own and the cologne feels full, not thin, like a ripe fruit set on a bright stone table in morning light.

Holding fleeting notes

How the ruby peel is built from many citrus materials, sweet, bright, bitter and green, while two long-lasting grapefruit notes keep a thread of juice running into the heart, and clean musks with a soft wood hold the drydown close to the skin.

Working with dilutions

How the six strongest materials are weighed as solutions at one tenth in the clear jasmine material, so a green edge, a cool spice, a fruity rose and a trace of red fruit stay glints rather than voices.
