Bringing it to life

Two fifths of this formula is one bright orange-peel material. On its own it smells clean but flat, like a picture of an orange. A small dose of real lemon oil and an even smaller one of real orange oil add the bitterness, wax and juice of actual peel, while a sharp lemon-like material and a clean lime-like material sharpen its edge. Around it, a fruity apple-skin wood and a clear floral heart keep the large citrus from turning sugary — like oranges lifted from cold, clear water, glistening and real.

Lifting the opening

Why a clear lavender-like floral and a honeyed rose, the two largest lines after the peel, are what you notice as the citrus fades.

Working with dilutions

How two very strong materials — a juicy tropical fruit and a creamy sandalwood — are each weighed as a one-in-ten solution so that they work at a trace.
