Description

Dawn in the lobby of a grand hotel, before the first guests come down: a checkered marble floor, tall columns, a high glass roof letting in the first pale light, and on a round marble table a silver urn of lily of the valley still wet from the florist, with a small dish of blackcurrants beside it. It opens clear and bright, a soft floral citrus with a green blackcurrant and a cool breath of air, like water just poured over petals. Then the lily of the valley opens, dewy, creamy and sweet, in a wide and clear jasmine air, beside a quiet rose with a ripe, lychee-like fruit. It dries down to a clean, soft musk with a red-fruit sweetness, the blackcurrant still there, and a clear amber at the very end. A study in how a wide, clear space lets a few lasting notes be heard from the first breath to the drydown.
