Transparency

Citrus is the shortest-lived part of a fragrance, and pushing it higher only makes it sharp. Here the citrus is only about a tenth of the formula, and half of it is grapefruit — yet it reads clearly, because nearly half the formula is transparent: a large, airy jasmine material, a large clean musk and a soft, radiant wood with almost no scent of their own. They leave space for the grapefruit to shine through like light, instead of being covered by heavy flowers.

Holding fleeting notes

How a citrus is made to last: a grapefruit material that outlives the peel oil, a soft, long-lasting lemon and a juicy grapefruit-flesh material carry the opening into the heart, while the musk and wood keep it on the skin.

The power of traces

How a few materials at tiny doses — two rose ketones, a sandalwood and a rose-leaf note at one-percent solutions, and a milky fruit note — give the pink fruit a ripe, realistic depth without being noticed on their own.
