Aventus for Her* Type Formula StudyAventurine Rose 16 · GA-021881

A tart first breath of freshly cut green apple and lemon peel, a clear rose blooming beyond the dark red shade of blackcurrant, and beneath them earthy patchouli, soft woods and a clean musk that clings to the skin. A bright, polished fruity rose musk.

What you’ll learn from this formula

How a rose can lead without being large

a clear rose heart between tart fruit and clean musk

  • Main skill

    Setting the heart

People remember this kind of scent for its rose, yet the natural rose material in this formula is less than a hundredth, and all the rose-like materials together make up only about a twelfth. The body of the rose is drawn mostly by one clean, rose-like material of about one seventeenth, and it stands inside a transparent floral layer of about a third, half of which is airy jasmine materials. That is the lesson: a rose reads clear and upright when it is drawn with clean lines and given air, not when it is piled on.

  • Supporting skill

    The power of traces

How a small shadow keeps fruit from turning sweet: the whole fruit and green block is less than a thirtieth of the formula, and about a quarter of that block is the perfumer’s secret, a dark berry note used at about one hundred-twentieth. Under a citrus opening of about a quarter of the formula, that tart shade keeps the apple and the peels bright without letting them turn into candy.

  • Supporting skill

    Close to the skin

How a fresh rose stays on the skin: about a quarter of the formula is amber and musk, and about half of that is one clean, soft musk material. Beneath it, a woody layer of about a sixth, with an earthy, dark material of less than a thirtieth of the formula, gives the drydown a quiet weight that stays close to the skin rather than filling the room.

Description

The first breath opens brightly, the tart light of lemon and bergamot peel layered with the crisp green of a green apple. Pink pepper adds a light, tingling lift on top, and the tart shade of dark berries holds the fruit so that it never runs sweet. Soon the rose steps forward — not a rose that pools heavily, but one as clear and upright as dew-covered petals. With time, earthy patchouli and soft woods support it from below, and a clean musk and faint amber stay close to the skin for a long time. Some people perceive this drydown as rather musky and earthy. It suits daytime in the warmer seasons especially well. This is the impression our perfumer formed on smelling the reference fragrance, written in our own words. It is not a measurement and not the reference fragrance’s formula.
