What you’ll learn from this formula

How much sweetness a scent can carry

a liqueur cherry wrapped in dessert and air

  • Main skill

    Controlling sweetness

The dessert sweetness of vanilla, tonka and a powdery almond note fills about a sixth of this formula, far more than most scents can hold without turning heavy. It stays light because a generous, transparent jasmine material, close to a third of the formula, keeps an open layer of air between the sweet notes, while broad woods and musk carry the weight down onto the skin instead of letting it pile up. That is the lesson: strong sweetness that still breathes.

  • Supporting skill

    Bringing it to life

How a cherry is drawn with precision, not volume: the whole cherry-and-liqueur block is only about a fiftieth of the formula. One bitter-almond material at a carefully measured dose draws the cherry stone, and mere traces of spirited, fruity materials add the warmth of a liqueur. A little too much, and the bitter almond jumps out ahead of the cherry.

  • Supporting skill

    The power of traces

How a trace changes the whole: the perfumer’s secret is used in only the tiniest amount — a jammy, fruity rose note that turns plain cherries into cherries long steeped in sugar. It is so strong that its regulatory limit, not taste alone, set this formula’s recommended concentration.

Description

On the first breath, a bitter almond like a bitten cherry stone rises together with black cherries long steeped in sugar. Over them spreads a warm glow like fruit soaked in spirit, giving the impression of a grown-up dessert rather than a sweet. At the centre, rose and jasmine show through very faintly, and as time passes the soft sweetness of vanilla and tonka and the sticky depth of balsam wrap around the cherry. At the end, smooth woods and a clean musk stay close to the skin for a long time. This is the impression our perfumer formed on smelling the reference fragrance, written in our own words. It is not a measurement and not the reference fragrance’s formula.
